Our partners in the community help us make our solutions available to learners of all ages. You, your business, or your organization can partner with us on our Learn & Grow Educational Series by donating, volunteering, or sponsoring and/or hosting Learn & Grow Events. Below are community partners that have already done just that. Please join our growing virtual “wall” of community partners by supporting our Learn & Grow programs.
Mimi’s Cafe – the location in Thousand Oaks regularly saves and donates food safe buckets for us to use in our Learn & Grow events with children. They have made giving to our programs a regular part of their recycling efforts. Way to go!
Giving Back to School (GB2S) – donation revenue support through its unique giving program, future support for local Learn & Grow gardens in over-developed urban neighborhoods.
Element Coffee – donates coffee grounds for composting, support of Learn & Grow gardens in the Ventura County area. If you are in the Camarillo, CA area and need coffee grounds for your gardening, these folks are happy to give them to you – just bring your own container to carry them away. You can even leave behind a 5-gallon bucket with a lid for your grounds and they will hold them for you for pick-up (write your name & phone number on it with a permanent marker so they can call you when they are ready and/or if you forget to pick them up).
Green Art People – another non-profit organization in Ventura, CA devoted to arts, music, community-building, and environmental responsibility that provides us with space to hold our Learn & Grow Events.
Little Thai Fine Dining – a lovely, family-owned and operated Thai restaurant in Camarillo, CA (rated the best Thai food in West Ventura County by readers of The Ventura County Star every year since 2006). Donates food-safe 5-gallon buckets for our Learn & Grow events and community gardens.
Gelson’s Market – a wonderful store in Westlake Village, CA full of healthy good foods; its bakery donates 3-gallon buckets to us for mini-self-watering containers.
Brent’s Deli is a fabulous restaurant with an incredible bakery, and has supported our efforts through its donation of two $25 gift cards that we can use to feed our volunteers during our next training.
Valentino’s Gourmet Take-n-Bake Pizza – a delightful restaurant and deli that sells ready-to-bake pizzas with fresh toppings that customers take home and bake in their own ovens, as well as sandwiches, salads, and more. They donate food-safe 5-gallon buckets for our Learn & Grow project events with kids.
Whole Foods in Oxnard is providing us with space for a Learn & Grow project event for kids ages 5-9 on July 22, 2014. A tour of the store will also be provided to registered kids plus free pizza, fruit, and water. The store is also providing the fresh produce, seeds, and baby plants for the project we’ll be conducting with registered kids; each child will go home with a planted self-watering container that he/she assembled him-/herself to grow fresh produce for his/her family.
